Careful Infidelity

Hi Everyone,

This isn't really an "update" per se. This is more of a "God reminded me of something and I wanted to share it with you" kind of post. This is from my devotional, "My Utmost for His Highest" by Oswald Chambers.

"Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on." Matthew 6:25

"Jesus sums up common-sense carefulness in a disciple as infidelity. If we have received the Spirit of God, He will press through and say - Now where does God come in in this relationship, in this mapped out holiday, until we learn to make Him our first consideration. Whenever we put other things first, there is confusion.

"Take no thought...." Don't take the pressure of forethought upon yourself. It is not only wrong to worry, it is infidelity, because worrying means that we do not think that God can look after the practical details of our lives, and it is never anything else that worries us. Have you ever noticed what Jesus said would choke the word He puts in? The devil? No, the cares of this world. It is the little worries always. I will not trust where I cannot see, that is where infidelity begins. The only cure for infidelity is obedience to the Spirit.

The great word of Jesus to His disciples is abandon."

It is so easy, especially in preparation for a summer of uncertain schedule, where everything is foreign, to worry about the little things. I find as June 6 draws nearer that I am starting to worry about what to pack, what to bring, worry about flying by myself to Florida, not having enough time to study Hindi before I leave, etc. Worry is a waste of time, as Matthew likes to remind us.

So stop worrying about the small stuff. Trust that everything will come together, because our God is a big God, and He has everything under control.

A Small Explanation

Hello everyone!

Thank you for visiting my blog! I look forward to sharing my experiences this summer with you.

I realize the title of my blog could be taken a couple of different ways, so I thought I better explain why I named it the way I did. "The art of losing myself" is a line from one of my favorite Hillsong songs, "From the Inside Out." For those of you who received a support letter from me, this is the same song I referenced there. The lyrics really speak to me, especially right now as I prepare for my trip. They are posted below so you can read them in full. I encourage you to listen to this song!

"From the Inside Out"
Hillsong

A thousand times I've failed
Still Your mercy remains
And should I stumble again
Still I'm caught in Your grace

Everlasting
Your light will shine when all else fades
Never ending
Your glory goes beyond all fame

My heart and my soul, I give You control
Consume me from the inside out Lord
Let justice and praise, become my embrace
To love You from the inside out

Your will above all else, my purpose remains
The art of losing myself in bringing you praise

Everlasting, Your light will shine when all else fades
Never ending, Your glory goes beyond all fame

My heart, my soul, Lord I give you control
Consume me from the inside out Lord
Let justice and praise become my embrace
To love You from the inside out

Everlasting, Your light will shine when all else fades
Never ending, Your glory goes beyond all fame
And the cry of my heart is to bring You praise
From the inside out, Lord my soul cries out
